Free recycling, shredding in Vernon Hills

A free community electronics recycling and paper shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 15 in the southwest parking lot of Westfield Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills. Accepted items include computer towers, printers, scanners, CRT monitors, laptops, CD/DVD players, cellphones, small appliances and gym shoes. Clothing and textiles also will be accepted as a new feature this year. This event is an opportunity to dispose of any personally identifiable information that may have accumulated since the last event. Due to the huge popularity, there is a three box limit for document shredding. (847) 996-6800; swalco.org.
