Maybe some day for Glen Ellyn pool

Recently, the residents of the Glen Ellyn Park District voted to bypass the opportunity to build an indoor aquatics center annexed to Ackerman Sports and Fitness.

While I am very disappointed, I wanted to pass along my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the passion and tireless effort put forth by my fellow Glen Ellyn Aquatics Initiative team members, the partnership of the park district, and the encouragement and financial support of many of the park district's residents.

The last few years have been an incredible journey. To see so many people come together for something so positive for the community was amazing. Most inspiring was watching our youngest residents and our families take part in both our swim-a-thon (Lap-a-Gator) and our Last Splash pool party. Not only did we raise needed monies to evaluate the business case for the pool and to raise awareness for the referendum, but we were able to see the passion and love for swimming truly come to life.

One day, maybe more residents will see the benefits of a well-designed indoor pool in Glen Ellyn. Or, maybe another entity will capitalize on the opportunity. Either way, Glen Ellyn remains a wonderful place to live and raise a family, and swimming continues to be an incredible life skill, recreation, and sport for all to enjoy.
