Local club seeking applicants for educational grant

The Suburban Chicago Club of Soroptimist International is seeking applicants for educational grants.

The Virginia Wagner Educational Grant is specific to these states in the Midwestern Region: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Women residing in these states who are attending college/university in pursuit of a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree are eligible to apply. Judging is based on effort toward education, scholarship, extracurricular activities and financial need.

Applications are available online at the Soroptimist International Midwestern Region website, simwr.org or by contacting Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago at siofsuburban.chicago@soroptimist.net.

Completed applications must be returned to the local Soroptimist Club by Jan. 15, 2015. For address, go to si-suburbanchicago.org and click on "contact us".

Soroptimist International is a volunteer organization for business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls, both locally and globally, through programs that result in social and economic improvement. Founded in 1989, the local Suburban Chicago Club is part of Soroptimist International which includes nearly 95,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects that benefit women. In addition to participating in the Virginia M. Wagner award program, Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago helps women by participating in the Live Your Dream Award and the GED Grant.
