Aurora Interfaith to hold community Thanksgiving service Nov. 23

Aurora Interfaith will once again hold a Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service this year. The service takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.

A community meal will follow the service. This year's event will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 420 W. Downer Place in Aurora.

This is an annual event held in Aurora, and the service traditionally averages more than 200 people. They rotate host faith communities each year. This will be the first time that Our Savior Lutheran Church serves as host of this community-wide event.

The service begins with a brief message from Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, and continues with participants from five different Christian denominations, two Jewish communities, the Muslim community, and the Fox Valley Baha'i community.

Altogether, between 12-15 different faith Ccmmunities from Aurora, representing four different religions, will be participating.

The worship portion of the event begins in the Our Savior Lutheran Church sanctuary, with dinner following in the fellowship hall.

The theme for this event is "All People Are Valued Children of God."

They invite everyone to attend from the entire area as it is a beautiful service representing the liturgies and traditions of several different faiths brought together in Thanksgiving to God.
