Cousin, parents charged in death of 3-year-old
Another person has been charged in the death of a 3-year-old Chicago boy.
Dominique Lott was ordered held without bond Wednesday on first-degree murder charges in the death of her cousin, Donnell Coakley. The boy's parents, 22-year-old Tylesha Griffin and 24-year-old Donnell Coakley Sr. were charged with murder earlier this week.
Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Alexandra Molesky says the 25-year-old Lott and boy's parents waited for hours after the boy's death before calling 911. The boy was found unresponsive in a bed.
The medical examiner's office says the boy's death was classified as a homicide after an autopsy revealed "abusive injuries." But the office says the exact cause of death hasn't been determined.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has custody of the boy's two siblings.
