Man found guilty in Chicago cop's 2010 murder

CHICAGO — One of two men accused of having a hand in the murder of Chicago Police Officer Thomas Wortham IV has been found guilty of first degree murder.

Prosecutors say Paris McGee was one two men who acted as lookouts in a May 2010 attempt to steal Wortham's motorcycle.

McGee was found guilty four hours after final arguments Thursday. A separate jury hearing the case against accomplice Toyious Taylor continued deliberations.

Assistant State's Attorney Mary Jo Murtaugh said McGee and Taylor watched from an auto as cousins Marcus and Brian Floyd approached Wortham with their guns drawn.

The officer's father, retired police Sgt. Thomas Wortham III, testified he opened fire on McGee and Taylor outside his home.

Brian Floyd was fatally wounded in the shooting. Marcus Floyd is awaiting trial.
