Mundelein's Falconer commits to Auburn

As Mundelein's girls swimming and diving team prepares for Saturday's Lake Forest sectional, its senior star has made her college choice official.

Mustangs senior Erin Falconer has signed a national letter of intent to compete for Auburn University, which placed 14th in the NCAA Championships last March.

Falconer has qualified for the IHSA state meet every year since her freshman season. She, Jenn Kordik, Rachel Robb and Karrie Kozokar won the state championship in the 200-yard freestyle relay last year. The same foursome placed third in the 400 free relay. Falconer was the runner-up in both the 200 and 100 freestyles.

She also took home four state medals in her sophomore season. She swam on the Mustangs' 200 free (10th) and 400 free (eight) relays, was fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 free.

As a freshman, Falconer helped Mundelein take 12th in the 200 medley relay and eighth in the 400 free relay. She earned an individual state medal in the 100 free (seventh) and just missed qualifying for the finals in the 200 free, as she finished 13th.
