Funeral home gains Lake Zurich approval

The Lake Zurich village board recently approved plans for a funeral home and crematory on the village's south side. Davenport Family Funeral Homes and Crematory will sit on a 5-acre site on South Old Rand Road near the Lexington of Lake Zurich seniors facility and two churches. Full story.

Aurora police seek help from public in hit-and-run

Aurora police want the public's help in finding the truck that struck and critically injured a 58-year-old Carol Stream man just before 6 p.m. last Thursday near the intersection of Liberty Street just east of Farnsworth Avenue. The truck left behind part of its front grill. Full story.

DuPage forest preserve releases director's termination

The DuPage County Forest Preserve finally released the termination letter sent to former Executive Director Arnie Biondo that released him from his short-lived tenure. His management style wasn't a good fit for the district and had no chance of becoming one, the letter said. Full story.

Lake County prosecutors: No charges yet in juvenile sexting, cyberbullying case

No formal charges have been lodged against the teenagers linked to allegations of sexting and cyberbullying of a Warren Township High School student, Lake County's top law enforcement officials say. Police said last week four students were involved in the investigation. Full story.

Abreu named rookie of the year

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu earned the American League Rookie of the Year title. The 27-year-old Abreu batted .317 with 35 doubles, 36 home runs, 107 RBI, a .581 slugging and .383 on-base percentage in 145 games with the Sox. Full story.
