Illinois Fencers Club successful in the 2014 Regional Open Circuit and Regional Junior Cadet Circuit

Illinois Fencers Club members competed at the Remenyik Open on October 25th and 26th at Henry Crown Sports Pavilion, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. The Regional Open Circuit (ROC) is designed to promote and develop strong regional tournaments for the Open/Division I-A fencer, who seeks competitive opportunities beyond the local and division levels but can not travel to all of the national Division I tournaments. Only the top eight fencers at the Remenyik Open qualify to the 2015 Division I-A event at the USFA Summer Nationals.

IFC's Maciek Zmyslowski won the Senior Men's Epee by besting a challenging field of 74 fencers. This was Maciek's second win of the event. Deon Bradford and Timothy Glass took 8th and 9th respectively in the same event.

At the Remenyik Regional Junior/Cadet Circuit, IFC's Zimo Zhu finished 3rd in Cadet Men's Epee and 6th in Junior Men's Epee. Jacob Nowak took 10th place in Cadet Men's Epee. In the Cadet Women's Epee sisters Nikita Jhangiani and Geeta Jhangiani got to receive medals together with Nikita placing 3rd and Geeta 6th. Isabelle Nasser took 5th place. The Regional Junior Cadet Circuit (RJCC) is designed to promote and develop strong regional tournaments for Junior and Cadet fencers who seek competitive opportunities beyond the local and division levels.

The Illinois Fencers Club promotes and teaches the Olympic sport of fencing to students of all ages and skill levels and provides a friendly venue for members to practice their sport. It is a member operated non-for-profit sports association that has been serving beginning, recreational, and competitive fencers for more than 40 years. The club meets in the Lions Recreation Center in Mount Prospect.
