A Blue Heron lifts off from it's wading spot on the Fox River in St. Charles, surrounded by the last of the autumn colors. I was walking on the new Red Gate Road pedestrian bridge, photographing the colors and looking for a focal point when the large bird presented itself. I used a 200mm lens, early in the morning when the sun was warm and low and shining directly on the west bank.
