Police: Chicago cyclist dies weeks after car crash

Authorities say a 78-year-old Chicago man has died more than a month after being struck by a vehicle while bicycling.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday that Joseph Korner was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead Nov. 6. They say a 90-year-old Chicago man hit Korner with his car on Sept. 27.

Authorities say an autopsy conducted Friday found Korner died from complications of his injuries. His death was ruled and accident.

Police say the car's driver was cited at the time of the accident for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He appeared in traffic court on Oct. 17. No further chargers have been reported.
