Bordson stars as Wolves whip Wild

DES MOINES, Iowa - Forward Rob Bordson scored 2 power-play goals and blocked a pair of slap shots while killing a 5-on-3 power play to highlight the Chicago Wolves' 5-1 victory over the Iowa Wild on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena.

Defenseman Chris Butler and forwards Shane Harper and Cody Beach also scored goals for the Wolves (8-2-2-0), and goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped 28 shots to earn his third consecutive win.

The Wolves opened the scoring at 5:57 of the first when Butler intercepted a hurried pass just inside the blue line and wristed a shot past the stick of goalie Johan Gustafsson (2-6-0, 26 saves) stick for an unassisted goal.

The Wolves boosted their lead to 2-0 at 9:23 of the first when Bordson buried a power-play goal from the top of the left circle. Defensemen Jake Chelios and Brent Regner set up Bordson's fourth goal of the year.

The Wolves increased their lead to 3-0 at 10:07 of the second when forward Benn Ferriero ripped the puck away from a defenseman behind the Wild net, skated along the left boards and found Harper in the slot for a quick snap shot.

The Wolves led 4-0 at 13:16 in the second period after Bordson recorded another power-play goal triggered by a Chelios shot and a Broadhurst rebound.

The Wild (2-10-0-0) ruined Binnington's shutout bid with 2:23 to go on Zack Mitchell's power-play tally, but Beach netted a power-play goal with two seconds left.

The Wolves' nine-game road trip resumes with a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday at North Division leader Utica. The Wolves return to Allstate Arena on Saturday, Nov. 22.
