Wisconsin council seeking information on trail use

MADISON, Wis. — A state recreation council is asking hikers, bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts to fill out a survey detailing how they use non-motorized trails.

A 2010 state law created a non-motorized trails council that advises lawmakers, the governor and the Department of Natural Resources on trail use, planning, acquisition and management.

The council is seeking up-to-date data on Wisconsin's trails from individual users as well as groups, organizations and municipal governments that develop and manage trails. The panel has set up an online survey asking respondents for comments on how they use trails and how often, the kinds of trails they prefer and what trail opportunities they'd like to see in the state.

The survey will be available on the DNR's website through the end of the year.
