Delaware County eyes new ambulance fees for EMS

MUNCIE, Ind. - Delaware County residents who use ambulances will soon see increased fees, but they have options for keeping costs down.

The county plans to offer the Delaware Care subscription service that would pay the amounts of ambulance rides not covered by insurance.

The Star Press reports the move comes as county commissioners prepare to raise ambulance fees.

The new rates vary from $550 for basic life support to $1,200 for the highest level of advanced life support. Delaware County EMS also plans to raise to $100 an hour the amount it charges for standing by at public events.
