Rockin' around the Christmas tree with NISRA Foundation

Send a child with a disability to day camp, a Special Olympics athlete to tournaments, or help purchase a wheelchair-accessible bus to transport a disabled adult to a fitness center program.

The Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) Foundation's 19th annual Holiday Fashion Show & Christmas Tree Raffle benefits these purposes and more.

This popular event will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Holiday Inn, Route 31 and Three Oaks Road in Crystal Lake.

The festive day features a delicious lunch, fashion show, silent and live auctions, "Jing-a-ling" workshop, raffles and opportunities to win a fully decorated tree and other items.

The doors open at 10:30 a.m., lunch is served at 12:30 p.m., and the fashion show begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $50 each, or $60 for premier seats closer to the runway, and are expected to sell out quickly.

Proceeds benefit the NISRA's year-round community recreation programs for local children and adults with disabilities.

Call NISRA at (815) 459-0737 or visit www.nisra.org/nisra-foundation for information or to make a reservation by Friday, Nov. 14.

Each tree and its theme-related gifts is valued at approximately $2,000. Big Kid Powersports, Spring Grove Sno-Grovers Snowmobile Club, and R.A. Adams Enterprises Inc. handle the delivery to winners within NISRA's service area.

Old World Gem & Jewelry in McHenry is giving a diamond solitaire pendant for the jewelry raffle.

Generous sponsors to date include Sage Products Inc., BMO Harris Bank, and Aptargroup.
