The Samaritan Counseling Center of the Northwest Suburbs has been awarded full accreditation by the Samaritan Institute for April, 2014 through April, 2018. "Accreditation is a major accomplishment and demonstrates a Center's commitment to excellence in organizational, administrative and financial practices," according to the Rev. Dr. Paul Bretz, Executive Vice-President of the Institute, located in Denver, Colorado.

The Samaritan Counseling Center of the Northwest Suburbs was established in 2006 and has the support of the Barrington Area Community Foundation, the McHenry County Community Foundation, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, the Barrington Area United Way, the Duchossois Family Foundation, the Foglia Family Foundation and a large number of other benefactors and congregations. The Samaritan Center provides hope, help and healing through a wide range of outpatient counseling services for individuals, couples and families as well as group therapy, educational testing, community awareness programs and mental wellness support for congregations. It is an interdisciplinary, interfaith, cost-efficient non-profit center incorporating the integration of mind, body, spirit and community in the healing process.
