"Maestro Moment" at Sherman to highlight Musicians Care program

Elgin, Ill. - Before performances at the Hemmens Cultural Center, two musicians will come together for an impromptu mini-concert at Advocate Sherman Hospital as a part of the Musicians Care program.

Elgin Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andrew Grams and American pianist William Wolfram will present the "Maestro Moment" at noon Friday, Nov. 14, at the base of the Tree of Life at the hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road. The concert is free and open to the public.

Wolfram will play a piano donated to the Advocate Charitable Foundation at Sherman Hospital by Dr. Roger Bielinski. Grams, who was a professional violinist before becoming a conductor, will accompany Wolfram on the violin.

Musicians Care was designed to enhance the patient-centered care experience at Sherman Hospital by providing by contributing to the healing process through music. Musicians from the Elgin Symphony Orchestra visit Sherman Hospital from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursdays to perform at various areas of the hospital.

After their performance, Grams and Wolfram will present "America's Musical Treasures" on Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.
