St. Al's sees pink; raises $3,000 for breast cancer

The Volley for the Cure volleyball tournament and fundraiser at St. Alphonsus Liguori School in Prospect Heights recently raised $3,000.00 to benefit The Men in Pink, one of the only all male teams that will participate in the 39.1-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this June.

Volunteers, including Saint Alphonsus teachers, parents, students and alumni, gathered to make the tournament a success. Throughout the day, the school's fifth through eighth grade girls' volleyball teams rallied along with teams from area Catholic schools to showcase their skills. A nail salon, pink hair extension studio, bake sale and raffle were some of the other highlights of this year's fundraiser. This is Saint Alphonsus Liguori's fifth Volley for the Cure event.

To date, the nine member Men In Pink team has raised almost $100,000.00 for breast cancer research.
