William Kent Krueger Visits Arlington Heights Memorial Library

New York Times bestselling author William Kent Krueger took center stage at Arlington Heights Memorial Library Tuesday night, October 28, and shared insights about his book Ordinary Grace, the selection for One Book, One Village, the library's first community read. An audience of 200 Arlington Heights residents filled the Hendrickson Room to hear Krueger in an interview-style program led by Info Services Advisor Barb Weiner. Their candid 60-minute conversation was followed by questions from the audience. Attendees also had an opportunity to meet the author during a book sale and signing.

An Evening With William Kent Krueger capped off a day-long visit by the Minnesota author. Krueger also had dinner at the library with Arlington Heights book club members and in the morning stopped by Rolling Meadows High School where he met with nearly 100 students who had read Ordinary Grace as part of their summer reading.

Ordinary Grace has been checked out over 2,200 times and over 1,000 people have attended library-sponsored programs supporting the One Book, One Village initiative. There are still many upcoming programs and exhibits running through December 8. A complete listing can be found at ahml.info/onebook. One Book, One Village has been so popular that planning for a second community read is already underway for 2015.
