History of Philosophy class offered by CLC Discovery Program

Learn about the history of philosophy while tracing the ideas that have shaped western thought from ancient Greece to modern times. A four-session Tuesday afternoon class, offered by the College of Lake County Discovery! Program starting Nov. 11, will focus on several famous philosophers and topics: Spencer (philosophy in the face of science); Hegel and Marx (fallacies); and Nietsche (philosophy and idealism as art; Existentialism, loneliness and despair; the end of philosophy; and linguistic analysis and criticism).

This class is being taught by Jacob Beutel, Ph.D., a native of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Beutel has worked in imaging physics at DuPont and taught computer courses, statistics and philosophy for the Academy of Lifelong Learning at the University of Delaware. He has written more than 50 scientific papers, holds 17 patents and is fluent in German and French.
