Illinois soccer coach charged in text message case

Associated Press

Authorities have charged a Bolingbrook girls soccer coach who they say sent inappropriate text messages to a juvenile.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Will County state's attorney's office said Jason Lentz was charged Monday with indecent solicitation of a child and grooming a minor for sexual purposes.

Authorities say the Bolingbrook Raiders soccer club coach had text conversations "of a sexual nature" with someone he believed was a minor. The state's attorney's High Technology Crime Unit had taken over the minor's text messaging account during a month-long investigation.

Authorities launched the investigation after a mother contacted the state's attorney's office about text conversations.

Lentz was ordered held on $250,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
