Team climbs Willis Tower in honor of Arlington Heights boy

A team of more than 40 people climbed the stairs at Chicago's Willis Tower yesterday in honor of an Arlington Heights boy who team members hope will soon be able to tackle stairs on his own. Ethan Sappington, 2, recently lost both of his feet, his entire left hand and much of his right hand due to a nearly fatal case of sepsis. He is now learning how to walk with the help of prosthetics. Kane County sets up hotline for election complaints

The Kane County State's Attorney's office will operate an election complaint hotline Tuesday. People can call (630) 208-5328 to report possible illegal election activity, such as electioneering, illegally placed campaign signs and the denial of voting rights. State's Attorney Joe McMahon said voters expect to have an "honest, fair and orderly election" and his office was working to ensure that. Full story.

Toy soldiers provide history lesson at Cantigny

Nick Albanese has been organizing the annual Toy Soldier Show at Cantigny Park in Wheaton for right around 15 years now. And when folks come out to see the work he and 17 other dealers do, as they did Sunday at the Visitors Center, they discover those toy soldiers - and the even more detailed "miniatures" - are really pretty darn cool. Church celebrates its place in Algonquin history

One of McHenry County's oldest churches, Congregational Church of Algonquin, rededicated its 146-year-old building yesterday with a service attended by some of its longest-standing members. The church, located on Washington Street in the village's downtown, has been a part of the Algonquin community for 164 years. "We have a legacy here," the Rev. Brian E. Cope told congregation members Sunday. "We have a tradition." Full story.

Maddon's agent: Talk of tampering by Cubs is 'insulting'

The soon-to-be new Cubs manager Joe Maddon's agent, Alan Nero, took to the air yesterday to shoot down any notion that the Cubs tampered when they pursued Maddon. Nero said his client's and the Cubs' conduct over the past two weeks has been above board. "The first contact with the Cubs was basically an email asking for us to prove there was an opt-out and Theo doing his due diligence," Nero said. If the Rays file a complaint and are successful in proving the Cubs tampered, they could win some form of compensation, whether it's cash, a player or players or draft picks.

Turnover trouble dooms Blackhawks

Well, the sold-out crowd at the United Center sure tried its best to help, working it through the anthem and a pregame tribute to Marian Hossa, but the Hawks simply didn't do their part last night in a 1-0 loss to the Jets. Just 20 seconds into Sunday's late starter, former Hawks forward Michael Frolik outwaited Corey Crawford for his first goal of the season, a goal that sucked the life out of the previously revved-up crowd and proved to be the only scoring on the night.
