TCF Bank presents Susan G. Komen with $165,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Midwest branches of TCF Bank celebrated its highly successful "Change Makes Change" program for the third year in a row, as part of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Patrons and employees of the bank were invited to purchase a ribbon to hang on the walls of the bank, and all proceeds were donated directly to the Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen (Komen Chicago), Komen Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate and Komen Memorial Affiliate in Peoria.

On Oct. 29, TCF Bank presented a check for $165,873.39 to Komen Chicago at the Madison/Wabash TCF Bank branch. "We take great pride in doing our part to contribute to this worthy cause and it's our goal to help give back to the communities we serve. Together, we're building a better community," commented Lou Campos, Executive Vice President and Branch Banking Director.

Susan Tybon, CEO of Susan G. Komen Chicago noted, "We truly value our partnership with TCF Bank and thank them for raising vital dollars in the fight against breast cancer. We had the privilege of meeting so many TCF employees during this campaign and they are all very dedicated and passionate ambassadors for the Komen mission to live in a world without breast cancer." She went on to add, "The Change Makes Change Campaign is the perfect example of how the impact of just one person's donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference. On behalf of Susan G. Komen, thank you to the entire TCF Bank family and to all the individuals who donated."

Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from the Change Makes Change program will be allocated to local communities in the Chicagoland Area, Southeast Wisconsin and Peoria to support breast health education and breast cancer services and treatment; the remaining 25 percent will support the Susan G. Komen Global Research Grants program for innovative, cutting-edge and lifesaving research.
