Race to the finish and enjoy chili at the Schaumburg Park District

Run in the chilliest 5K around!

The Schaumburg Park District's annual Chilly Chili 5K will begin at 10 a.m., Dec. 6 at the Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road. Participants will lace up their running shoes and complete a USA Track & Field certified 3.1 mile course before eating a chili lunch. Participants 21 and older will receive one free beer.

The Chilly Chili is for age 10 and older and includes multiple age divisions. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each division. The 5K is a Schaumburg CAN (Children - Activity - Nutrition) event.

"Participants will love running in this race," says Alyssa Danca, fitness supervisor. "It's a fun route on our golf course with beautiful scenery. Warming up with chili and beer or soda when you're finished makes the event even more fun!"

Participants are required to complete an official race registration form available at www.parkfun.com or at Park District facilities. Race forms must be returned to the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Online registration is available at www.active.com.

Pre-registration fee is $40 and due by 5 p.m., Nov. 26. Race-day registration fee is $45. Check-in, packet pick-up and race-day registration will be available 8-9:30 a.m., Dec. 6.

The first 200 runners registered will receive a fleece headband and gloves. The Chilly Chili 5K is sponsored by Alexian Brothers Health Systems and Dick Pond Athletics.
