MCC offers continuing education for seniors

Adults, age 50 and older, can engage their mind with exciting classes offered by the Retired Adult Program at McHenry County College. It is a membership-based, noncredit program dedicated to adults who are active, curious and serious about continually learning. The cost for a one-year membership is $25 renewable every July 1, and you must be a member to register for classes.

Great American Songbook: Listen to musical selections and stories about George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Carman Miranda, Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, George M. Cohan, and many others. You'll also get to test your knowledge by playing "Name That Tune" and "Name That Movie Star," plus enjoy a good, old-time singalong. The class takes place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in Room A103. Cost is $19 for members. Use course ID NRA S46 011 when registering.

1968 - A Crack in Time and A Year that Changed America: In 1968, thousands of Americans died in Vietnam. Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated. Americans witnessed riots and protests against the war and for Civil Rights. Join other curious adult learners for a presentation and discussion about a very turbulent time that transformed America. Class will take place from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Room A103. Cost is $20 for members. Use course ID NRA S35 011 when registering.
