Metropolis to make lounge music with stage stars in new series

The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights is launching a new series of intimate concerts featuring musical theater professionals.

Called Artists Lounge Live, the series is curated by Michael Ingersoll, a star of the Chicago company of "Jersey Boys" and founder of the vocal troupe Under the Streetlamp. The shows will feature performers with credits on Broadway, national tours and in Chicago-area professional theaters.

First up is Broadway veteran Eric Gutman ("Jersey Boys") in his show "From Broadway to Obscurity" on Feb. 12, followed on April 16 by "Dream of Now, Dream of Then" featuring Sara Jean Ford ("The Phantom of the Opera").

The initial series concludes on June 11 with "Something Wonderful" featuring six-time Jeff Award-nominee Heidi Kettenring (currently starring in "The King and I" at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire).

All performances are at 7:30 p.m. and tickets range from $40 to $45 per concert. A series subscription is $96. Call (847) 577-2121 or visit metropolisarts.com for more information.
