Too much spent on election process

Too much spent on election process

Our elected legislators in Washington will be in session 98 days this year. For this we pay them generously, give them health care and a pension.

When they hightailed it out of Washington for seven weeks so they could work on being re elected they were criticizing the president whenever possible on matters they declared dire emergencies such as ISIS and Ebola.

They avoid voting on anything they have to take a stand on rather than lose a vote or financial support from their super PACs. For this gubernatorial election in Illinois $100 million dollars will be spent.

We really need to get so much money out of the election process. Why should people who don't live in Illinois want to spend millions to get someone elected? Our elected officials are not representing their constituents anymore and don't even pretend to do so.

We do need Washington to get back to the business of providing for the defense and general welfare of the United States. If any of us performed at our job the way these people do, we would be fired but for the most part they will be re elected.
