Aurora cops hunting three men in armed robbery

Aurora police are hunting for three men in connection with an armed robbery Tuesday night at a Payday Loan Store on the city's near east side.

Police said the men fled the store on the 900 block of East New York Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.

One of the men was armed with a handgun when he announced the robbery, police said. After the two employees turned over the money, the robbers tied them by their wrists in a small backroom and fled.

The employees, a 23-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, were not injured.

Police said all three suspects were described as black males around 17 years old, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds.

The gunman was wearing a red and gray checkered sweatshirt, dark pants and a red beanie hat. The second man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with writing on it, dark pants and a dark-colored beanie hat. The third was wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark-colored beanie hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police Investigations at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
