Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' and Flyin' Through The Air: FREE Pumpkin Drop returns November 2

Halloween will come and go, but that doesn't mean the fun is over for your carved pumpkin and jack-o'-lantern. Don't toss that gourd in the trash-go "monster" green after Halloween and compost those pumpkins at the Mundelein Park District's FREE PUMPKIN DROP (http://goo.gl/A9tOJS). All ages will enjoy this enviro-friendly event held Sunday, Nov. 2 from 12:30 to 1: 30 p.m. at the Keith Mione Community Park, 1401 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein.

Join us for this award-winning, unique event where we toss, roll, smash and compost those past-their-prime pumpkins. Come watch us roll pumpkins down the sled hill to see how fast they go, smash them into compost, and more. Plus, kids pre-registered by October 26 will be entered into a drawing and 20 winners will get their pumpkin launched by "Big Red," a catapult spanning nearly 10 feet across, designed by Mundelein High School students, launching from high atop the sled hill.

Then, learn how those pumpkins get a "second life" when used for compost.

The event is free. Pre-registration for the pumpkin launch can be done by calling 847-566-0650. More information is available on the Park District's Facebook page or online at www.mundeleinparks.org.
