Teen charged with murder in Will County shooting

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP - Will County authorities have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder in the fatal drive-by shooting of another 16-year-old.

The (Joliet) Herald-News reports sheriff's Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said the boy is charged as an adult for two counts of murder in the slaying of Latray Wright. He is being held on $3 million bond in the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities say Wright and a friend were walking on the street in Lockport Township on Thursday when a car with three occupants pulled up and the shooting started. They say Wright was hit from behind and his friend wasn't injured.

Kaupas says Wright and the suspect were associated with different factions of the same gang.

The Associated Press typically does not identify juveniles accused of crimes.
