Schaumburg Twp. hosts recycle, shred event Nov. 8

Schaumburg Township will sponsor a Community Shred & Electronics Recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 8, in the parking lot of township hall, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates. The event is free and open to Schaumburg Township residents only - no businesses. Proof of residency will be required. Acceptable electronics include computer equipment, cellphones, UPS backup batteries, etc. Items not allowed include batteries and anything leaking chemical, such as a cracked monitor or crushed laptop. CRT monitors and tube TVs will cost $5 to $20 depending on the item. Paper shredding will be limited to four letter-size banker boxes no larger than 1 cubic foot or 15x12x10-inch size.
