Bartels already has long list of service

Chuck Bartels is our choice for Lake County Board. He has lived and worked in District 10 for 26 years. He owned and operated a small business that grew into one of the largest employers in Lake County. Chuck and his wife, Teresa, raised five sons who are now contributing citizens; three are small-business owners.

During those years, Chuck volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, football coach, school board member and fundraising champion for every project from gift wrap sales to raising millions to rebuild a church and a new high school gymnasium. He volunteered for 10 years as a career mentor in a Job Search Workshop program helping those who lost jobs, were returning to the workforce or were in need of retraining.

For over 40 years, Chuck Bartels has volunteered to meet needs across Lake County. He was the fundraising chairman and then board chairman for United Way of Lake County. He chaired the College of Lake County Foundation and more recently co-chaired its Scholarship Campaign. He co-founded Lake County Partners, with businesses, the Lake County Board and municipalities in a partnership that focuses on economic development and jobs.

He was a co-founder of the Lake County Transportation Alliance, a private/public organization that works together to mitigate congestion, improve roads and develop transportation options. LCTA's 2006 summit prioritized Lake County's transportation needs to speak with "one voice" and reduce the reliance on property taxes for transportation solutions.

Those of us who have worked with Chuck know that he has an uncanny ability to listen to diverse points of view, find common themes and bring people together to solve problems. He treats all people with dignity and respect. Chuck will work tirelessly for all of the residents in Lake County. Chuck Bartels is our choice.
