Early Halloween trick-or-treating in downtown Grayslake

Trick-or-treaters got a jump on filling their candy bags Saturday in downtown Grayslake.

Sponsored by the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce, the Business Trick or Treat ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It was billed as a safe, fun way for children to collect candy from participating establishments in a concentrated area.

Grayslake village hall on Seymour Avenue was part of Saturday's fun. In addition to providing candy, officials hosted village hall tours, let kids sit in a police car or public works truck, and offered chances to win a 2015 season membership pass to the Esper A. Petersen Foundation Family Aquatic Center.

Little ghosts and goblins and their parents were welcomed into the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum on Hawley Street. The Heritage Center and Museum opened an hour early to accommodate the chamber's Business Trick or Treat.

Children who want more candy can venture back out during Grayslake's official trick-or-treat hours 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.
