Sunday package delivery:
The Island Lake Post Office will begin Sunday package delivery Nov. 26, to meet officials say is the growing demand, according to a news release. Island Lake Postmaster Barbara Chapman said the Sunday delivery is for parcels only. She asked that customers keep walkway areas clear and make sure dogs are inside the house and safely secured. In fiscal year 2013, the U.S. Postal Service saw a 6 percent increase in package volume over the previous year, according to the release. An additional 12 percent increase was recorded last holiday season, totaling 420 million packages, the release stated.
