Vote yes on Glen Ellyn pool

I am writing in support of a yes vote for the aquatics facility referendum in Glen Ellyn.

My support for an indoor aquatics facility in Glen Ellyn is multifactorial. As a mom of young children, I have been forced to go outside of Glen Ellyn for their swim lessons. The current aquatic facilities in town typically fill up their allotted spots for swim lessons almost instantly. These pools have numerous activities going on so their swim lessons are limited and difficult to get into.

Also, as a triathlete who swims in these pools on a regular basis, I can attest to the pools always being overcrowded and needing to share or wait for lanes to open up. We have been members at both the YMCA and Healthtrack in the past almost five years of living in Glen Ellyn. Our primary use for both facilities was for the pool only. We switched from one facility to the other because the pool had limited availability for open swim due to swim teams and/or swim lessons only to realize that the other facility also has a crowded pool.

I hope residents will vote yes to the pool Nov. 4 to meet the growing aquatics needs of our community.
