South Elgin sophomore Lisa Derowski is the only remaining Fox Valley area player in the state girls tennis tournament, which is being played at several venues throughout the Northwest suburbs.

Derowski lost her first round match to Laura Gutierrez of Fenton 6-1, 6-2 but came back to win three matches in the consolation bracket, beating Sarah Diedrich of Marion 6-1, 6-1, ZLauren Nietzel of Champaign Centennial 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Hannah Hougland of Hampshire 6-2, 6-1.

Hampshire's Hougland went 2-2 on the day as did Jacobs' Ashley Kosy, who won her first two matches before losing two straight to be eliminated.

Also eliminated were the doubles teams of Morgan Vachio/Sara Elliott of Jacobs (1-2), Jordane Waichunas/Michelle Lopez of South Elgin (0-2) and Katrina Michel/ Josie Seykota of South Elgin (0-2).

Also eliminated in two straight matches was South Elgin junior Corinne Hildebrandt.
