Waukegan teachers strike continues

Waukegan Public Schools students will be out of class another day as negotiations between the district and the teachers union continue.

About 17,000 students have been out of class since members of the Lake County Federation of Teachers went on strike Oct. 2.

The school district said in a Tuesday statement that despite a "committed effort" by both sides they weren't able to reach an agreement. The two sides remain at odds over financial terms, including salary.

Talks between to two sides will resume today, with a federal mediator present.
