FitMama hosts Elburn blood drive Oct. 25; vampires need not apply

Elburn, IL: Owner and founder of FitMama, Erin Schaefer, has long wanted to expand her philanthropic reach, and saw an opportunity to help local area hospitals short on blood supply and has offered to host Heartland Blood Centers for a blood drive at her fitness studio in Elburn. There is plenty of parking, Heartland professionals will be on-hand to guide you through the process and, if you schedule your time slot before Saturday, you will be assured of getting in and out and on with your Saturday plans.

The Elburn Blood Drive will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the FitMama studio, 707 Herra St., Unit J, in Elburn. Easily located just west of Route 47, off Keslinger Road and Thryselius Drive, specific directions can be found on the studio's website at www.iamafitmama.com/contact.html.

"I work daily with area women who are looking to make a difference in their own lives and that of their families by making healthy choices. Small steps lead to larger ones, and when they begin to see physical results or notice how good they feel, they continue making those healthy lifestyle choices," Schaefer said. "I'd like to encourage not only FitMama clients but residents of Elburn and all of the surrounding towns to support Heartland Blood Centers in a blood drive for local area hospitals.

"I promise you will feel so good about donating because you are not only helping someone, but possibly saving a life," Schaefer shared. "What could feel better than that?"

Donating blood is something that can be done fairly quickly and literally save lives. According to Heartland Blood Centers, only 5 percent of the eligible population donates blood. And, donating one unit of blood can help save the lives of up to three people. Type O negative blood is the universal donor and can give to any blood type, so individuals with type O negative are highly encouraged to participate.

To sign up for a specific time that works best for your schedule, donors can visit Heartland's website at www.heartlandbc.org.
