New board member for WRLR-FM

WRLR 88.3-FM in the Round Lake area has a new board member.

At a recent board of directors meeting, Sean Hauser received unanimous appointment to join the group, effective immediately. Hauser's regular term starts Jan. 1.

Board members cited Hauser's skills, knowledge and commitment as reasons he was appointed to the volunteer post. They said Hauser will be a key part to WRLR's future success, as the organization grows and matures with expanded services to the community.

Hauser's appointment will help fill the soon-to-be-vacated seat of board member and former treasurer Allan Bergh, who will step down in December after almost a decade on the board.

Hauser is producer/host of the show "Sunday Retreat," which airs at 7 p.m. Sundays on WRLR. Bergh is the producer/host of his long running program "Musical Memories," heard at noon Mondays.

Operating from Round Lake Heights, low-power WRLR is a public community radio station. It focuses on the greater Round Lake Area and Chain O' Lakes areas.

Since 2005, the station has grown and now offers roughly 40 locally produced programs. WRLR is an Internal Revenue Service-recognized, not-for-profit organization operated by about 80 volunteers.
