Injury sidelines Blackhawks goalie Crawford

Corey Crawford is out and Antti Raanta will be in the net tonight when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Philadelphia Flyers at the United Center.

"Day-to-day upper body," coach Joel Quenneville said of Crawford's status. "Didn't feel great last night, and this morning it was worse."

For the 25-year-old Raanta, it will be his first start (7:30 p.m. CSN) this season for the Blackhawks (3-0-1).

"I said yesterday that things change quickly," Quenneville said. "We didn't think it would be that quick, but here he is today."

Raanta is ready.

"It's the first game so you're always a little bit nervous, but I feel pretty confident going in," Raanta said Tuesday morning.

Scott Darling will back up Raanta against the Flyers (1-2-2).

Last season Raanta posted a 13-5-0 record with a .897 save percentage and 2.71 goals against average. In his four starts this season, Crawford has a .926 SV% and 1.66 GAA.

Darling, a 25-year-old Lemont native, has appeared in two games this season with the Rockford IceHogs. In two preseason games with the Hawks, he stopped all 27 shots and posted two wins, playing 91 minutes. Darling was signed as a free agent on July 1.
