Sample the best of the area at TasteFest Thursday Oct. 23

The 11th annual Great Barrington Area TasteFest, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, promises to be the best "foodie" event of the season, with 20 purveyors of food and spirits already signed up to share samples of their fare. TasteFest is hosted by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and open to the public.

This year's TasteFest will again be held at the Marriott Northwest, I-90 and Route 59, in Hoffman Estates. For just $30 in advance; $35 at the door, guests are invited to enjoy tastes from the menus of the finest Barrington region restaurants, wineries, breweries and distilleries. To date, participating food and beverage vendors include Apple Villa Famous Pancake House & Restaurant; Brunch Café; Calibre Coffee; Chatterbox of Long Grove; Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant; Copper Fiddle Distillery; Francesca's Famiglia; Georgio's Chicago Pizza & Pub; Great Harvest Bread Co.; Gianni's Cafe; Jennioe & Vera's Cookies; Lindy's Landing; Marriott Northwest; Mandile's Italian Ristorante & Banquets; McGonigal's Pub; Pinstripes of South Barrington; Savory Salads; Slyce coal-fired oven pizza; Tiburon Rum; Tilted Kilt; and more to be announced.

The first 400 guests at the door receive a free commemorative Tasting Glass. Guests also have a chance to win the "Great Taste" Gift Card Tree, loaded with gift cards from TasteFest exhibitors and other fine regional restaurants. They can also vote for the Great Taste awards for Best Taste, Appetizer, Spirit and Dessert.

The nationally renowned Amy Yassinger Jazz Ensemble returns to TasteFest to provide live music throughout the evening. Presenting sponsor Barrington Bank & Trust, N.A. is also returning with its money machine, which guests can step into to grab some fast moving cash. Several other businesses will also be exhibiting at TasteFest.
