Blackhawks looking for more traffic going to net

While the Blackhawks put 87 shots on net the last two games, they only had 3 goals to show for it.

Coach Joel Quenneville knows the reason why.

"As a team, I still think we've got to get more guys going to the net without the puck," he said. "With the puck down low, we should be looking to take ourselves in that area.

"I just think we need to score some greasier goals than we have earlier this year. No matter who or what kind of player you are, if you want to score goals that's where you've got to get to."

Full house:

With the return of defenseman Michal Rozsival on Saturday and the expected season debut of Kris Versteeg Tuesday night, Joel Quenneville finally has the full roster he had hoped for.

"We like our team; we like the options," Quenneville said. "Prior to Steeger getting hurt and Rosey getting hurt, we had a pretty good idea how it was going to begin.

"We're happy with our group. We have a lot of good ingredients there."

The waiting game:

With so many days off between games, backup goalie Antti Raanta has had to be one patient guy as he waits his turn to get between the pipes.

"He's got a good attitude and I liked his practice today," Joel Quenneville said. "That's the way to stay sharp. Treat every practice like it's a game."

Because for now that's all he's got as Corey Crawford sees a majority of the action.

"For October, Crow is probably going to get the bulk of the games," Quenneville said. "But once we get going again, we're going to see Antti."

Perhaps as soon as this weekend's back-to-back games?

"Likely."

First star:

Twelve-year-old Gabe Colon practiced with the Hawks on Monday and provided the highlight of the day when he roofed one on Corey Crawford.

He said it:

"I am … by about half an inch."

- Kris Versteeg, when asked who's the tallest player on a line with him, Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw.
