Glass Pumpkin Patch

See more than 3,000 pumpkins made of blown glass at the Morton Arboretum's fourth annual Glass Pumpkin Patch. Guests can watch demonstrations by glass blowers, purchase the pumpkins on display and visit a farmers market. Pumpkin patch is free with paid $9-$12 Arboretum admission. Lego Master Build

In celebration of its first anniversary at Gurnee Mills, the Lego Store will host a “Creation Nation” Lego Master Build event. Visitors are invited to help create landscape and city scenes from Lego bricks. The Legos will be used to fill a 25-by-25-foot map of the United States in the mall's Dining Pavilion. Howl-O-Ween Fest

Pets and their human friends are invited to Save-A-Pet's Howl-O-Ween Fest at the Save-A-Pet shelter and adoption center, 31664 N. Fairfield Road, Grayslake. The fest showcases a pet costume contest, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, a bake sale, games and more. Admission is free. OktoBIRDfest

The Stillman Nature Center hosts its Raptor Sunday event, part of the center's monthlong OktoBIRDfest. Guests can get an up-close look at great horned, barred, barn and screech owls. Stillman staff will show off a peregrine falcon, broad-winged hawk and red-shouldered hawk. Kids can dissect owl pellets. $10 per car. The center is at 33 W. Penny Road, South Barrington. Good swan/bad swan

The Joffrey Ballet unveils its first “Swan Lake” this week, which has been revised by British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and set in the Degas-inspired studios of the Paris Opera Ballet in the 19th century. The Steel Beam Theatre hosts its KC Scaregrounds Haunted House at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The world of Poe
