Wolves' offense howls against Monsters

The Chicago Wolves' stingy defense has set the pace early in the season, but the offense took center stage in a 7-2 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters at Allstate Arena in Rosemont on Saturday night.

Forwards Dmitrij Jaskin (goal, 2 assists), Shane Harper, Ty Rattie, Rob Bordson, Pat Cannone (goal, 2 assists, Colin Fraser and Yannick Veilleux tallied for the Wolves, who featured 14 players recording points - including goaltender Matt Climie. Jeremy Welsh added 2 assists.

Climie (3-0-0) saw his shutout streak snapped at 123:52.

Jaskin, Harper and Veilleux each delivered a power-play goal for the Wolves (3-0-1-0), who had netted just 1 power-play score in their first three games.

"It's a process of learning each other and finding better combinations of what we can do," said Wolves coach John Anderson. "I thought our entries were a little better tonight. Our decisions with the puck along the half-wall were much better tonight, and that's what I was looking for. When you control it off the half-wall instead of dumping it, you get better looks."

The Wolves close out their season-opening five-game homestand Friday when they host Milwaukee at 7 p.m.
