Round Lake's homecoming parade a rousing affair

Rain did not damper a homecoming parade Saturday for Round Lake High School.

Residents lined the streets holding umbrellas as children scampered for candy thrown against the curb as the parade headed south on Cedar Lake Road from Hawthorne Drive in Round Lake Beach to the school in Round Lake.

Homecoming king Alonso Herrara and queen Jenny Juarez, both 17 of Round Lake Park, waved to the crowd as the high school band played and cheerleaders shouted out their favorite cheers.

Other recent homecoming events included a powder puff game and window painting at nearby businesses.

Saturday's events also included the homecoming game against the Wauconda Bulldogs followed by the dance in the evening.
