Hanover Twp. park gets new name

Hanover Township officials showed off improvements at a Streamwood park and renamed the outdoor space after a longtime park district commissioner Saturday.

Crews recently installed new playground equipment at Naomi Walters-Lenoci Reserve, a 2.6-acre park with a walking trail and activity field at 735 Stowell Ave.

Walters-Lenoci served more than two decades on the Streamwood Park District board until the late 1990s and currently volunteers at the township's Senior Center in Bartlett.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed and flabbergasted," the 42-year Streamwood resident said of the honor.

Township-hired architects also were on hand to gauge feedback from neighbors about a long-term master plan for the amenity, formerly called Lacy Park.

"Hopefully we will be able to fulfill some of the wishes that the residents want," Walters-Lenoci said.
