Elect congressman who will fight vouchers

The Republicans are talking seriously about changing Medicare to a voucher plan. That's just kicking the costs down the road and retirees will end up paying those costs. And, it doesn't do anything to help solve the real problem: a health care system that focuses on treating disease, instead fostering wellness.

Would you rather get treated again and again, or get treated and get well?

With the Republican's voucher plan, we're still going to be paying Medicare taxes now, but we'll get some of those dollars back years later when they're actually worth less.

And, every year we'll get to slog through stacks of information from insurance companies so we can select a medical plan. So we can pay those dollars, along with a bunch of our own additional dollars, as premiums to an insurance company - hoping they actually are an insurance company and we picked a real medical plan.

Where's the benefit in all that? A voucher plan doesn't sound like a good approach to me. We need more informed, smart, innovative thinkers in Congress who can help us move past the partisan politics and get on with the business of running this country.

That's why I'm supporting Dennis Anderson for Congress District 14.
