Boys golf: Burlington Central's Niesel in 10th place

Burlington Central senior Austin Niesel has a chance to bring home a medal from the Class 2A state boys golf tournament.

Niesel shot a 6-over par 78 Friday at Weibring Golf Course in Normal and enters Saturday's final round tied for 10th place.

The Rockets' Joe Sherman, a sophomore, shot an 86 and is tied for 76th place.

St. Edward junior Michael Mattas shot an 84 and is tied for 56th place.

Freshman Tommy Kuhl of Morton and senior Eric Gilpin of Bloomington Central Catholic share the lead at even-par 72.

Class 3A: Jacobs junior Justin Lenzini shot a 78 Friday at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington and is tied for 26th place. Huntley senior Trent Craig had an 82 and is tied for 56th place.

Maine East senior Orion Yamat leads with a 72.
