Harper College recognizes Hanover Park mayor, other alumni

Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig will join seven other honorees in a Harper College ceremony recognizing alumni for their career and community impact on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The recipients of Harper's 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards include Woodfield Mall General Manager David Gott; Palatine Township Elementary District 15 Assistant Superintendent Meg Schnoor; and Peter Soby Jr., a writer, director and producer.

"From the very faculty who taught them to the students learning on the same campus that helped so many alumni get their start, recipients of this award are inspiring others," Alumni Relations and Special Events Director Fredia Martin said in a news release.

The free and public event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wojcik Conference Center on the Palatine campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. The award winners will be invited back to campus as a guest speaker or will participate in a student-related activity, according to a news release.

So far, 43 alumni have received the award since Harper launched the program in 2008 as part of the community college's 40th anniversary. For more details about the Harper College Educational Foundation, visit harpercollege.edu/foundation. RSVP by Tuesday, Oct. 21.
