Aurora man seriously injured in Naperville crash

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a Friday morning crash at the intersection of 75th Street and Book Road in Naperville, police said.

One of the drivers, Nikhil Siony, 45, of Aurora, had to be extricated from his vehicle by Naperville firefighters and was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with serious injuries, authorities said.

The other driver, Rachel Nowakowski, 30, of Villa Park, was treated for minor injuries at Edward Hospital in Naperville and released.

Police said Siony was traveling east on 75th Street in a 2008 Toyota about 8:25 a.m. when he was struck by Nowakowski, who was turning south on Book Road from westbound 75th Street in her 2009 Mazda.

The crash remains under investigation by the Naperville Police Department's traffic unit. Portions of Book Road and 75th Street were closed until about 1:15 p.m.

No citations had been issued as of Friday evening.
